Tell us briefly about your journey to Tampere and how you ended up here.

I first visited Finland as a tourist for one week back in 2022 and spent just two days in Tampere. Even in that short time, I really liked the city. It felt peaceful and welcoming while still offering everything I was looking for, from beautiful nature and technology events to innovative companies and cultural activities. That visit inspired me to come back, and later I moved to Tampere to study Accessibility and Diversity in Digital Services at Tampere University.

What do you love most about living in Tampere?

What I love most about Tampere is the balance it offers. You can enjoy a high quality of life, stay close to nature, and still be part of an active international and technology community.

As someone interested in digital accessibility, I have had many opportunities to attend conferences, events, and company visits related to my field. One memorable experience was being a guest of honour at Yle, where I learned how they make their digital content accessible to everyone. (link to Yle Visit https://areena.yle.fi/1-78142460)

I also enjoy Tampere's cultural life. There are fascinating museums, festivals, concerts, and plenty of opportunities to dance, which is one of my favorite hobbies. And yes, dancing is definitely part of Finnish culture!

Why would you encourage international talents to move to Tampere?

One thing I know for sure is that people in Finland are kind and supportive. In Tampere, the community feels welcoming and approachable. If you are proactive, patient, and open to meeting people, the connections you make can open many doors, both professionally and personally.

Tampere offers great opportunities to grow your career while enjoying a peaceful lifestyle close to nature. For me, that combination is something very special.

What is your favorite place, and your favorite thing to do in Tampere?

My favorite place is the Hiekka Art Museum, the oldest private museum in Finland. It is a unique museum that feels like a journey through time. One of the most interesting facts about him is that he is said to have been one of the first people from Tampere to travel around the world.

I also love walking by the lakes, enjoying the beautiful sunsets, and spending time in nature. These moments help me relax and appreciate the beauty of Tampere.

How would you describe Tampere as a city, and what makes it special?

To me, Tampere feels like home. The people are kind, the atmosphere is cozy, and there is always something interesting to discover.

What makes Tampere special is its combination of history, culture, innovation, and nature. You can explore museums, attend cultural events, enjoy lakeside views, and even smell fresh doughnuts from the famous cafés around the city. It is a place with character and heart.

Is there anything else you would like to share with potential newcomers that makes Tampere a great place to live and work?

Tampere is a city where it is easy to feel at home, even if you come from another country. People are friendly, services work well, and there are many opportunities to connect with others through studies, work, volunteering, and community activities.
