Lupa Harrastaa: Animation (5.-9. grades)

Get to know the production process of an animated film and how to make animation through different techniques and genres. Some of the animations are done as a group work, some individually. No previous knowledge is needed, you will definitely learn, because doing it is fun! You can use your own phone or tablet to make animations or borrow equipment from the youth cultural centre. RUNO (poem) diaries course
 

RUNO (poem) diaries is a gentle introduction to diary writing through poetry. The course teaches participants to describe their feelings using imagery and to find words that can tame an unstable world. The course is led by poet and wordsmith Simo Nieminen. Theater costume and prop making

Welcome to join the group that will be making the costumes and props for the Tampere Youth Theater's spring 2026 performance. In this costume and prop making group, you will get to know the world of theater and learn different techniques related to costume and prop making, as well as meet like-minded people. We use recycled materials as much as possible in costume and prop making and customize ready-made clothes. This group is conducted in Finnish only.

The group sings familiar songs together and individually, and learns performance and singing techniques. In addition, they learn memory techniques (memorizing songs) and are introduced to the secrets of songwriting. At the end of the spring, there is an opportunity for a small-scale final concert. No prior skills are required. The instructor is musician Silja Sjöberg. The group is conducted in Finnish.

Introduction to Music Production and Mixing course

Would you like to learn how to make your own music using synths and samples? Wouldn't it be great to be able to mix your own recordings and songs? How about learning to use digital music production software such as Ableton Live? In the Music Production & Mixing course, we will learn all of these things together!

This four-session course is intended for beginners. If you have never opened Ableton Live or any other music production software before, or if you would like to learn the basics with an instructor, this course is for you! After this course, there will be a six-session advanced course that delves deeper into many aspects of music production. You can sign up for both courses! If you already know the basics of Ableton Live or have used other music production software, we recommend signing up for the advanced course directly. Advanced course in Music Production and Mixing

The advanced course in music production and mixing builds on the basics learned in the beginner's course, delving deeper into the world of music production and mixing. How can you mix vocals to sound professional? How can you combine multiple samples smoothly or make drums sound powerful? How can you build a whole song from a short idea? How do you design a unique synth sound? We will get to try all this and much more in this course!

This is a follow-up course to the beginner's course held earlier this spring. If you already know how to use Ableton Live or another music program but want to learn more about music production and mixing, this course is for you! If you want to learn or refresh your knowledge of Ableton Live and the basics of music production, sign up for the beginner course first and then for this advanced course. Rock Camp Band

Welcome to goal-oriented band activities! Participants will be divided into two bands, which everyone can join according to their skill level. The bands will practice a wide variety of songs, playing techniques, ensemble playing, and general band activities. Playing together purposefully develops playing skills and interaction skills, which help the group effectively develop their own playing skills and get to know like-minded people. The last session of the group will feature a final concert, where the young people will get to perform the songs they have practiced during the spring. Each participant must have a basic knowledge of a band instrument. Instruments are available on site, but you can also bring your own. The group has a limited number of places for players of each band instrument, which will be filled in order of registration. The instructors are Rock Camp ry coaches Juha Tretjakov and Filip Gäddnäs.

Mon D&D

The tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons continues in the spring with a variety of adventures! Although the game started in the fall, new players are always welcome to join the group. You don't need to have any previous experience with role-playing games or D&D; all you need is an interest and a sense of adventure, but we also welcome more experienced players. The group follows the principles of a safer space, and the game master wants everyone to come as they are and feel comfortable. The game master is Akita Kauranen. The group is conducted in Finnish or in English depending of the participants.

Lupa Harrastaa: K-pop dance 3 (grades 5–6)

Welcome to K-pop dance group, where you can learn different K-pop dances in a relaxed atmosphere with a great group of people. This class offers you the opportunity to try out different dance styles while developing your own technique and dance expression. Dancers of all levels and anyone interested in dance are welcome to join the dance class. What is youth theater?
Tampere Youth Theater is an independent organization founded in 2009 with a grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation's Myrsky project. The theater was founded by actress Helena Rängman. Since 2011, the youth theater has been part of the City of Tampere's youth services. The Youth Theater's home stage is the Wivi Lönn Hall at the Youth Culture Centre Monitoimitalo 13. Tampere Youth Theater collaborates with Tampere Theater. 

Tampere Youth Theater has four theater groups of different ages, and each group has a different focus. The groups are taught in Finnish. 

The groups are:
* Lupa Harrastaa: Tampere Youth Theater/Learn Finnish through theater (grades 5-6) Registration starts on December 1, 2025
* Lupa Harrastaa: Tampere Youth Theater (grades 7-9) Registration begins on December 1, 2025
* Tampere Youth Theater (ages 15-18) Separate application for next season opens in May 2026
* Tampere Youth Theater (ages 17-25) Separate application process begins December 1, 2025
* Theater costume and prop making (ages 15–29) Registration begins December 1, 2025

Lupa Harrastaa: Tampere Youth Theater / Learn Finnish through theater (grades 5–6)

In these theater rehearsals, you will learn Finnish while practicing theater. The group will do various theater games and activities. They will also practice putting on small performances and acting. No prior knowledge is required to join the group. The instructor is theater expression instructor Marko Taiminen. This group is conducted in Finnish only.

Permission to participate: Tampere Youth Theater (grades 7–9)

The group will learn the basics of theater through various theater games, exercises, and small-scale performances or scenes. The activities are based on teamwork and collaboration. Participants will also practice creating short performances or scenes they have designed themselves, while learning the basics of self-expression and performance. The group is suitable for both those who have previously been involved in theater and complete beginners! The instructor is theater expression instructor Marko Taiminen. This group is conducted in Finnish only.

2.2.– 4.5.2026 (except February 23 and April 6)
For 7th–9th graders

Tampere Youth Theater (ages 15–18)

This theater group consistently does basic stage work exercises and puts on performances with a focus on community. The teaching isn't tied to basic arts education, but it follows its guidelines while listening to the young people. The Tampere Youth Theater group for 15-18-year-olds always prepares a performance for the spring. The group is active throughout the school year, and participants commit to the activities for the entire school year (from the beginning of September to the end of May). Marko Taiminen will serve as the director for the 2025-2026 school year. This group is conducted in Finnish only. 

Tuesdays at 17.15-20.15

Applications for the Tampere Youth Theater (group for 15–18-year-olds) for the next academic year are always accepted in May. Applications for the 2025–2026 academic year are now closed. Applicants will be notified of the selections in mid-August when schools start. Priority in the application process is given to young people from Tampere and young people who do not have other opportunities to participate in theater activities. It is not possible to join this theater group during the school year.

Tampere Youth Theater (ages 17-25)

This theater group for young adults is open to anyone interested in theater. We have fun together with various theater games and exercises, learn the basics of theater, and deepen our knowledge in whatever way the group wants to progress. We do improv and scene exercises, among other things. The group is open to beginners as well as those who already have some theater experience. If you are interested in theater in a committed group, this group is for you. The group is led by theater expression instructor Marko Taiminen. This group is conducted in Finnish only.

Theater costume and prop design (for ages 15–29)

Welcome to join the group that will prepare the costumes and props for the Tampere Youth Theater's performance in spring 2026. In this costume and prop making group, you will get to know the world of theater and learn different techniques related to costume and prop making, as well as meet like-minded people. We use recycled materials as much as possible in the production of costumes and props and customize ready-made clothes. This group is conducted in Finnish only.
