Evening-time and round-the-clock care
Most daycare centers operate normally on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Daycare centers offering after-school care open at 5:30 a.m. if necessary and close no later than 10:30 p.m.
After-school care is intended for children who, due to their parents’ work or degree-seeking studies, regularly require care after 6:00 PM.
Shift care is intended for children whose parents work regular shifts and whose care includes nights. A care agreement is drawn up before the care relationship begins. Client fees for evening and shift care are the same as for other early childhood education.
The application for evening and shift care must be accompanied by documentation of the evening and/or shift work or degree-seeking studies of both guardians living in the same household.
Pellervo Daycare Center offers shift care for first-grade children of single parents who work shifts. The Etelä-Hervanta and Tesoma daycare centers offer evening and weekend care for schoolchildren under the same criteria.
Shift care for school-age children costs €120/month.
Early childhood education does not provide transportation to shift care.
