Applicants can be individual young people, group of friends, or other groups of young people (aged 9-29). Applicants may be individuals or an organization organising activities for young people (associations, educational establishments, leisure activities, etc.). For individual young people, the application may be for a solo exhibition or part of a collective exhibition. Priority will be given to young artists and organisations from Tampere and Pirkanmaa regions. Preference will also be given to artists who have not yet had an exhibition at Gallery Vivi.

For individual young people, we hope that they already have some experience of making art and, for example, that they already have enough works to build a complete exhibition in the gallery space. If there are not many works yet, please select the option "apply for a group exhibition". A joint exhibition means that we build an exhibition together with several young people into a single entity. The young people do not need to know each other beforehand.

The call for exhibitions at Galleria Vivi in the Youth Culture Center Monitoimitalo 13 for the academic year 2025-2026 is open yearly from the beginning of January to the end of March. Those who have been granted exhibition time will be notified by the end of May. All other applicants will be notified shortly afterwards. The next call for applications will open in early 2026.

Gallery Vivi will host exhibitions during the academic year from August to June. The average exhibition period is three weeks, with hanging and dismantling days. Artists can use the exhibition space free of charge. There may be some costs associated with the exhibition, depending on the exhibitor's own plans for the construction of the exhibition or if, for example, there are costs associated with transporting or insuring the works (of the exhibitor's choice).

Basic information

Gallery Vivi is located in the entrance hall of the first floor of the Youth Culture Centre, behind a glass wall. The gallery space has the following dimensions: height 2,80m, width 6,40m, depth: 5,5m. One wall of the space is entirely glass (including the entrance to the space), with an acoustic and blackout curtain in front of it. The room is fitted with grey carpeting.

Hanging and wall surfaces

• The walls are MDF panels, painted white.
• The wall surface can be painted (with good reasoning only).
• The wall can be hung directly, but we try to use wall hanging rails as much as possible. The MDF is backed by plywood, so you can hang heavier things on the wall.
• The walls (three walls) have hanging rails.

In the gallery you can find hanging wires that fit the rails:

• Transparent hanging wires (perlon) max. 15kg for hanging.
• Metal suspension wire (steel cord) for hanging up to a maximum of 1.5 m (perlon thread). for suspensions up to 20kg
• The suspension wires can also be used to make overlapping suspensions, taking into account the size and weight of the works.

and suspension hooks:

• Two types of suspension hooks are available (larger and smaller). The hanging hooks are available in two sizes (larger and smaller) and have a load capacity of between 4 kg and 20 kg.
• For hanging rails, there are also lightweight rail hooks for line attachment.

There are three suspension rods in the centre of the space in the ceiling. One pole can support a weight of about 50kg, but it cannot swing and must be static.

Lights and electricity

• The ceiling is equipped with light rails (three-phase rails) which also provide electricity. There are spot lights and wall wash lights to illuminate the entire wall surface.
• The electrical outlets in the room are: ceiling 3, main wall 4, left side wall 3 and right side wall 3. The locations of these outlets are 20cm above the floor.

Technique and accessories

• 4 Genelec G One as fixed sound system for 4.0 surround sound
• Two video projectors: a BenQ X3000i and an Epson EH-LS800W
• two 43" flat-screen TVs with stands (the TVs can also be turned vertically)
• Audio and video playback Mac Mini M1

In addition, two tall glass vignettes and a few sculpture stands are available for exhibition use. The space can be decorated and furnished either with your own items or with items from the house. There is also a line laser and a toolbox with accessories.

The exhibitor will take care of

• The exhibitor is primarily responsible for the hanging and dismantling of the exhibition. The Youth Services staff will assist and help, for example with pre-planning.
• The exhibitor will have access to a limited number of tools, sculpture and equipment stands and presentation equipment from the Youth Services.
• The exhibitor will take care of the transport of the works and any insurance and other costs involved.
• The exhibitor will prepare the written material for the exhibition (e.g. list of works, artist's introduction) in cooperation with the City of Tampere Youth Services according to the graphic guidelines.
• The exhibitor will provide the Youth Services with a photograph to be used on the exhibition poster in good time before the start of the exhibition.
• The exhibitor shall, prior to the day of hanging, arrange for the frames of the works to be hung on the walls and for the fixing of the frames if this type of work is to be included in the exhibition.

Youth Services will take care of

• Youth Services will organise a kick-off meeting to go over the practicalities of the exhibition.
• The City of Tampere Youth Services will take care of the cleaning of the exhibition space and the supervision of the exhibition.
• Any opening ceremonies or similar events will be organised in cooperation with the Youth Services. Further details will be agreed on a case-by-case basis.

Communications

• The basic graphic materials for the communication of the exhibition are ready and should be used in accordance with the City's graphic guidelines.
• The exhibition brochure will be produced in cooperation with the Youth Services.
• The City of Tampere Youth Services will communicate the exhibition through its own social media and other channels. Social media posts will be made once a week.
• The Youth Services will photograph the possible opening event and the photos will be available to the exhibitor.
• Youth Services offers the possibility to make a video of the exhibition
