Sports counselling
People with low mobility often have health problems that affect their ability to work and function and their quality of life. Depending on the customer's individual needs, motivation and initial situation, the objective of sports counselling is to find ways to promote the customer's well-being. The sports counsellor can provide guidance and tips for starting physical activity and tell the customer about sports facilities and instructor-led groups.
Sports counselling is for everyone: families, young people, people of working age - anyone who feels they need a little help and support to find the spark for physical activity.
Sports counselling is available by phone or in face-to-face meetings across the city. Sports counselling is given by appointment and is free of charge, with no need for a separate referral. The consultation lasts 45 minutes. Exercise advice is given in Finnish, bring an interpreter with you if necessary.
It is recommended to use an e-mail address when making an appointment. This way you will receive a confirmation email and you can cancel or change your appointment directly through the confirmation.

Everyday exercise consists of many small things. As a family, you can exercise in nearby parks, forests, or sports facilities around the city. Family-oriented exercise counselling helps you find ways to exercise that fit into your family's daily routine.

The sports motivators operate in the Hervanta, Tesoma, Lielahti and Kaukajärvi areas. Their mission is to promote a physical lifestyle among young people and to provide support for physical activity. They run several groups, but also offer sport counselling on physical activity.

For young people
Our sports professional will help you find and identify the right forms of physical activity for you, advises you on how to start exercising safely and encourages you to get moving. Participation is completely free of charge.
During the session, a physical activity plan is created together with you based on your individual needs, goals and wishes.
The counselling is carried out 1–3 times with individual sessions and a visit to the gym together with the sports counsellor. There is also the possibility of longer-term counselling, lasting at least 6 months.
Long-term, regular exercise has been shown to have many health benefits and is effective in helping with weight management, for example. Exercise counselling gives you tips on how to exercise, sleep and eat.

The schedules and pressures of work and daily life may sometimes mean that you take less exercise, or none at all, for one reason or another. Even if you once had an active lifestyle, it can become just a beautiful memory, and your intentions of being physically active do not go beyond frail hopes.
Sports counsellors can also help you find solutions for making physical activity part of your daily life and ways in which you could accumulate enough physical activity every day to maintain your health. Sometimes illnesses may also limit your ability for physical activity, but professional sports counsellors can also help solve these problems.
