One-off grants for cultural projects activating the culture district to continue in 2027
Continuing this dedicated funding supports the development of the Culture District and the revitalisation of the western city centre through culture. In the project Creative Industry Incubators of the Culture District Supporting the Revitalisation of Tampere’s Western City Centre, funded by the Pirkanmaa Regional Council, the City of Tampere and a wide range of local actors collaborate to strengthen the area’s appeal and highlight its distinctive atmosphere and services.
The Culture District project has two main focus areas: the digital incubator combines digital development with the physical environment, while the second incubator focuses on urban space development in the western city center.
The goal is to create an area where both Tampere residents and visitors enjoy spending time and repeatedly use its services.
Developing the Area’s Attractiveness Through Cross-Sector Collaboration
In 2027, cultural sector operators will once again have the opportunity to apply for funding for activities organised in the Culture District area. In autumn 2026, the application period will be extended to cover projects taking place later in the year, instead of closing at the end of September as before. In 2027, applications for the one-off grant will remain open until 31 October 2027. The funding strengthens the vitality of the city centre and encourages projects that complement the area’s cultural offering.
A dedicated allocation of €15,000 has been reserved in the city’s one-off cultural grants budget for this purpose. The maximum grant for a single project is €3,000.
This special allocation supports events and projects that complement local cultural offerings in the western city centre.
Funding Available for Non-Profit Cultural Activities
One-off grants may be applied for by associations, non-profit organisations, working groups, independent producers, and artists. Funding is granted only for non-profit activities, meaning it cannot be used for business operations or sales promotion.
Applications for this dedicated funding are open until 31 October 2027. The application period for one-off grants is continuous. Applications must be submitted no later than 14 days before the event or project takes place, preferably approximately two months before implementation.
Applicants must have their own funding share to carry out the activity. Voluntary work is also accepted as self-financing. More information can be found on the one-off cultural grants website.
In the “Other information” field of the application form, applicants must write “Culture District” so the city can identify applications intended for this dedicated funding for activating the western city centre. When planning an event, applicants should take into account the processing schedule and the eligible event period.
Granted funding will be paid after reporting, which must be submitted within two months of the event, according to the one-off cultural grants criteria.
