Tell us briefly about your journey to Tampere and how you ended up here?

I arrived in Finland in September 2024 as an international student to pursue a Vocational Business Top-Up program at SASKY Tampere, moving here alongside my husband and daughter. When choosing where to study, my agency gave me options across Finland, but Tampere immediately stood out. My research showed a vibrant city that perfectly balances lively opportunity with a relaxed, manageable pace of life—ideal for family living. Moving here proved to be the right decision, and Tampere quickly became the place we proudly call home.

What do you love most about living in Tampere?

What I love most about Tampere is its seamless connection between urban life and nature. Within less than 30 minutes on the tram, I can go from the city center to relaxing by a quiet lakeside. I can enjoy the energetic feel of the city, yet step into the forest to pick berries or fish by the lake without having to travel far. I also deeply appreciate Tampere's rich heritage—its preserved historical buildings, cobblestone streets, and charming local coffee shops—alongside a local culture where people genuinely respect each other’s privacy and personal space.

Why would you encourage international talents to move to Tampere?

I would encourage international talent to move to Tampere to experience true work-life balance. While no place in the world is perfect, living here genuinely improves your overall quality of life. Tampere offers a clean and healthy environment, a peaceful atmosphere, and respectful community members, alongside growing career and educational opportunities waiting to be explored.

What is your favorite place, and your favorite thing to do in Tampere?

My favorite place in Tampere is LÄHELTA, a cozy café nestled right along the lake in Ranta-Tampella. My husband actually discovered it while out on a run and invited me along for a coffee date. Sitting by the water with a fresh coffee or a glass of wine after work, taking in the stunning view, is one of my absolute favorite things to do. It’s also a popular route for walkers and joggers, making it a great spot for people-watching and having deep conversations about life. Plus, there is a playground right nearby, so my daughter can have fun while we unwind.

How would you describe Tampere as a city, what makes it special?

For me, Tampere is a charming city that won my heart from the moment I arrived—it was truly love at first sight. What makes Tampere so special is the unique energy it gives you. It inspires you to thrive, build a meaningful life, and confidently make it your home. I hope Tampere brings that exact same feeling to you, too.

Is there anything else you would like to share with potential newcomers that make Tampere a great place to live and work?

Moving to a new country can feel intimidating at first, but Tampere has a way of making you feel supported every step of the way. Between the accessible services, friendly local communities, and active international networks, you are never truly alone here. Through my platform, Precious in Finland, I’ve had the joy of guiding many newcomers through their transition. My biggest advice is to embrace the local lifestyle, stay open to new opportunities, and give yourself time to adjust—Tampere will quickly feel like home!
