The Adult Education Centre is organising a creative writing course for children from 1 to 5 June 2026 – registration is now open

Registration is now open for the Explorers of a Magical World summer course (Taikamaailman tutkimusmatkailijat) organised by the Adult Education Centre of the Tampere Region. The creative writing course for children aged 9–12 introduces participants to fantasy literature and invites them to create their own fantasy world complete with characters, as well as to craft themed props.

– The course is perfect for anyone who enjoys stories, magic and adventure. Children love having the opportunity to use their imagination, says Kristiina Kestinen, course coordinator responsible for creative writing courses at the Adult Education Centre.

The Explorers of a Magical World course will take place at the Metso Main Library from Monday to Friday, 1–5 June 2026, from 10 am to 2.30 pm, offering meaningful and engaging activities for schoolchildren during the first days of the summer holidays. According to Kestinen, the course is an excellent alternative to spending time on mobile phones.

– Creative writing has many benefits for literacy. Vocabulary expands and verbal expression develops. Practising creative writing is genuinely joyful and fun, and it’s even possible to make new friends through the hobby, Kestinen says.

The Adult Education Centre recommends registering for the course as early as possible, and no later than 24 May 2026. The course fee is 84 euros, and the language of instruction is Finnish.
