Mixed waste

Mixed waste management

Every residential building and holiday home must join the municipal waste management system. Waste management is organised by Pirkanmaan Jätehuolto.

For mixed waste, you join the waste management system as a customer of the property-specific waste transport or as a user of a regional waste point.

Property-specific waste transport for mixed waste

  • The Waste Management Committee has defined the collection areas for mixed waste. In these areas, all residential properties must have their own or a shared mixed waste bin with nearby properties.

  • Outside these areas, properties may also have their own or a shared bin, if road conditions allow access for a waste collection truck.

  • Waste charges depend on the size of the bin, the emptying interval and the municipality where the property is located.

  • See the current and future collection areas: Map of mixed waste collection areas.

Regional waste points

  • If the property is located outside the mixed waste collection areas, mixed waste is collected at regional waste points operated by Pirkanmaan Jätehuolto.

  • The regional waste points are intended for daily waste from residential buildings and holiday homes.

  • Waste charge is an annual fee based on the property use and the number of apartments or holiday homes.

  • Find locations of the regional waste points: Kierrätys.info website.
